No, this isn’t a Monday morning confession after sitting through ANOTHER sermon on tithing. I was excited to get a chance to make some portraits of my pastor, Sheldon Miles and his wonderful family: Michelle, Tyler and Kristen. Y’know all too often we see our pastors (or priests or rabbis or shamans) as super-human or extra-holy. It’s a shame, really… These men and women who’ve been chosen and who choose to shepherd their flock of faithful deserve the same amount of patience, tolerance and understanding as the rest of us. It’s unfair to expect them to be anything greater than what they are… human. Anyway, I was glad to have the chance to watch my pastor interact with his wife and kids as a husband and father. He’s awesome at both and I’m glad to call of them “friend.”
